  Doesn't know own countries visa policy. I was planning a trip (well in advance) on the Maitree Express between India and Bangladesh. The consulate (in an e-mail) told me, giving my situation, that I would be able to get a visa on arrival in Bangladesh. In Kolkata, I was refused a ticket and told to go to the Bangladeshi High Commission. The HC informed me that there was no visa on arrival and kicked me off the property. After a call back to the consulate in Switzerland, and a call from the consulate to the HC, I was allowed back in to get a same-day visa. The visa required the authorization of the consulate general and since he was not in, I did not get a visa. My entire trip was a waste and I didn't go to Bangladesh or take the Maitree Express.
